Pal Kova ( Milk Peda or Milk Cake)

Hello Everybody..This is the first recipe im going to post ....so i thought id start of with something sweet and classsic. Pal Kova is a very famous Indian sweet and is loved and enjoyed by all. Its really simple and worth giving a try...

Ingredients:
Milk - 1 Gallon ( 3.7litres)
Sugar - 1 1/2 to 2 cups
Cooking Time - 3 hrs
To be Noted:
Though it looks simple, few factors while preparing milk peda needs complete attention, if not you might ruin the whole thing down.
  • First and foremost, make sure you use a heavy and sturdy pan. If you use an ordinary vessel or pan, the milk will get burnt and will stick to the bottom of the vessel which we dont want.
  • Secondly, you need to constantly or at regular intervals stir the milk
  • Third most important thing to note is that, you need to add the sugat only after the milk has reduced to less than half the initial quantity and has started thickening. If not, it would take ages to get your delicious sweet.
  • Last but not the least, cook in Medium to Low flame ....

Since our end product is going to be almost less than half the initial quantity, we need to use more milk. If you want more Pal kova.... add more milk initially. And also, since this recipe is going to take a lot of time, try to do it while you are multi tasking with many other things around the kitchen, this way, you wont know the time it takes in the making..

This is how to prepare :
Boil milk in a Big sturdy and heavy bottomed pan.
Keep stiring the milk at regular intervals. Continue the same till the milk has reduced to more than half in quantity.
Once you see the milk thickining, add the sugar.
Keep stiring for another 15 to 20 mins.
Turn off the flame, in semi -solid state...
It will get set and perfect to enjoy eating once it cools down.

Enjoy your Pal Kova.... and do let me know ur comments...
